Interview Questions EVERYONE Should Prepare For

You have a big job interview coming up and you want to be as prepared as possible. If you’re working with one of the top employment agencies in Allentown, PA, your recruiter will coach you for the interview, but if not, you’ll need to work extra hard to make a great impression.

While there’s no way to know what interview questions are on the hiring manager’s list, it’s almost inevitable that you’ll need to prepare for the most common ones. Here are five you should prepare responses for because they’ll almost definitely be asked.

Five Interview Questions to Prepare For

Tell me about yourself.

Chances are, this question will be the first one asked. On the surface, it might seem easy, but talking about yourself in a professional manner is actually more challenging than you think.

The best response is essentially a sales pitch, where you’re of course selling yourself as the best fit for this particular job. Share a few tidbits about your past jobs, current jobs and future goals, as they relate to the position.

Why do you want this job?

No one wants to hire a candidate who isn’t passionate about both the position and the company. This question is your chance to show you’ve done your research about both. Share a few reasons you think you’re the best person for the job and what drew you to the company in the first place. Your goal is to show the hiring manager you have what it takes to excel in the position and are a good cultural fit.

Why are you leaving your current job?

It’s only fair to wonder why you want to leave your current job or already did. No matter what the terms, putting a positive spin on this is essential, because no one wants to hire a candidate who could be viewed as problematic.

For example, you might want to leave your job because you’re bored with the work. Instead of saying this, you should say you’ve enjoyed the time in your current position, but feel like there’s nothing left to learn, so you’re looking for a new challenge. Focusing on the future, instead of the past, is the best way to go.

Why are you the right person for the job?

The hiring manager has obviously seen your resume, so they know you have at least the basic qualifications to do the job. Now it’s your turn to convince them you’re the best choice. Accomplish this by sharing your top job-related strengths and matching them to some of the company’s current needs. Craft a winning response by explaining how your strengths will allow you to resolve these issues.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hiring new employees is a big deal, so employers try to seek candidates who want to stay with the company for years to come. The best response to this question is one that highlights your desire to climb the org chart, while making it clear the position aligns with your future goals.

If you’re not exactly sure where you want to be in five years, that’s okay. Simply highlight a few skills you’d like to gain by then — from this job — or goals you’d like to achieve — related to this job.

CEO Letter

As a staffing and recruitment professional for over  30 years, I have seen many changes in the industry. Over that time, I’ve witnessed a transformation in the way organizations view staffing services. Today, we see more and more companies using staffing services as a strategic tool, rather than just for temporary fill-ins.

At HTSS, Inc., our focus is on helping companies create proactive workforce plans. Our goal is to help our clients use staffing strategically to increase capacity, overcome hiring freezes, access specialized talent, better manage increased workloads, and enhance overall productivity.

For our candidates, we help to uncover truly rewarding job opportunities—jobs that are a match to each candidate’s skills, and jobs that offer key experience and growth potential.

We look forward to strengthening our relationships with our current clients and candidates, as well as forming new and exciting partnerships in the future.

Sincerely,

Pat Howells
