Insights and advice about jobs and hiring in the Lehigh Valley.

What Are the Most Common Questions in All Professional Interviews?

You’ve been looking for professional jobs in the Lehigh Valley for a while now, and you’ve finally scored an interview. This is very exciting, but like most people, job interviews make you nervous.

Even when preparing for the interview with a top staffing agency in Pennsylvania, there’s no way to predict every interview question the hiring manager will ask. However, some are more likely to come up than others. Certain interview questions are more common because they’re both general to many different types of professional jobs and the information they offer can be invaluable.

Here’s a look at a few questions you’ll want to prepare strong responses for because they’ll likely be asked.

4 Most Common Job Interview Questions

Tell me about yourself.

On the surface, talking about yourself seems easy, but doing so in a formal setting can be much more difficult than it seems. The best way to answer this question is to describe yourself in the context of your fit for the position. Briefly highlight your relevant experience, passion for the work, and why this has primed you to succeed in the role.

Why do you want this job?

No one wants to hire a candidate simply looking to collect a paycheck until something better comes along. Hiring managers ask this question because they want to choose someone who is truly excited about both this specific position and their company. Explain why you’re the right choice by sharing what enticed you most about the job and why you think you’re a great match for the company culture.

What is your greatest weakness?

A job interview is a time to present your best self, so this question frequently throws candidates off. Responding in an honest manner that doesn’t present you in a negative light is tricky, but the best way to make a great impression. Accomplish this by sharing an example of an actual weakness you’re working to improve — i.e., not “I’m too organized.” — that wouldn’t hinder your performance in the job.

Why should we hire you?

No doubt, the hiring manager will interview plenty of qualified candidates, but the last one standing will offer something special that makes them stand out. Be that person by explaining why you have an edge on the competition. Craft a response that emphasizes your ability to shine in the job and thrive in the company culture at a level no one else could match.

CEO Letter

As a staffing and recruitment professional for over  30 years, I have seen many changes in the industry. Over that time, I’ve witnessed a transformation in the way organizations view staffing services. Today, we see more and more companies using staffing services as a strategic tool, rather than just for temporary fill-ins.

At HTSS, Inc., our focus is on helping companies create proactive workforce plans. Our goal is to help our clients use staffing strategically to increase capacity, overcome hiring freezes, access specialized talent, better manage increased workloads, and enhance overall productivity.

For our candidates, we help to uncover truly rewarding job opportunities—jobs that are a match to each candidate’s skills, and jobs that offer key experience and growth potential.

We look forward to strengthening our relationships with our current clients and candidates, as well as forming new and exciting partnerships in the future.

Sincerely,

Pat Howells
