3 Ways to Motivate an Otherwise Unmotivated a Non-Passionate Co-Worker

Working alongside passionate people who truly care about their jobs is inspiring. Most of your co-workers fit this description, but there’s one who stands out — in a bad way. This person is never excited to be at the warehouse and seems to take no pride in their work.

It’s possible they need to start searching for other Allentown, PA warehouse jobs because this one doesn’t seem to be working. However, there’s also a good chance you can turn their attitude around with a meaningful pep talk.

Here are a few ideas to help encourage your colleague to bring their A-game to work each shift.

3 Ways to Inspire an Unmotivated Co-Worker

Help Them See the Big Picture

If your co-worker views their job as mundane, they’re probably just focused on a small part of it. You know the work you do ties into larger company goals, and that makes you feel fulfilled. Help your colleague share this sentiment by explaining that their little piece of the puzzle is a very big deal. When they’re able to realize the work they do is important, they’ll step it up, big time.

Explain Why the Team Needs Them

When one person doesn’t pull their weight, the rest of the team has to pick up the slack. You know this because you’ve been doing extra work to make up for your unmotivated colleague. Chances are, they don’t realize the impact their actions are having on the rest of the team.

Take the person aside and calmly explain how their behavior is impacting everyone else. This should serve as a wake-up call to help them understand how much the team needs them.

Remind Them Why They Chose This Job

Right now, your colleague is likely working on autopilot. They come to work each day and do pretty much the same thing — or in their case right now, a lot of nothing — without much thought. Bring meaning to their day by helping them remember why they chose this job.

Maybe they enjoy working with their hands, or perhaps they like being part of a team. Whatever the reason, this will help them rekindle their passion for the job.

We look forward to strengthening our relationships with our current clients and candidates, as well as forming new and exciting partnerships in the future.
