Values-Driven Job Search: Aligning Your Personal and Professional Priorities

You’re looking for a new production, packaging or warehouse job, but you don’t want to work just anywhere. Instead, you’re searching for an opening at a company that shares your values.

Chances are, your current employer isn’t the best fit, so you don’t want to make the same mistake twice. The fact that you realize this is incredible, so be very proud of yourself for deciding not to settle again. Here’s some advice to kickstart your values-driven job search.

Building Your Career Around Your Values: Why It Matters

More than just a way to pay the bills, your job is a huge part of your life. If your priorities don’t align with your employer’s this can be a major problem. For example, if you value a solid work-life balance, but the company culture is focused on results at all costs, you won’t be happy. This will cause you to be discontent with your job, so you’ll likely be back at square one looking for another new position in no time at all.

Evaluating Companies for Cultural Fit: Finding Your Ideal Workplace

Unless you already have a contact at a company you’re interested in, it can be hard to know what it’s actually like to work there. Learn as much as possible by asking pointed questions during your job interview.

For example, you might ask “How does the company celebrate success?” or “What types of flexible arrangements do you have in place?” This will help you better gauge your fit.

Communicating Your Values: The Secret to Landing Your Dream Job

During your job interview, emphasize your fit by explaining why the company’s values drew you in. For example, if the company is committed to giving back to the local community, mention any relevant volunteer work you do.

Additionally, you could also describe your ideal work environment. Ideally, you would do this if you’re certain it aligns with the company’s. However, if it turns out you’re not on the same page with the organization, this can also keep you from joining the wrong team. If something like this happens, instead of considering it a setback, realize it’s just another step in the process to finding the right job for you.

CEO Letter

As a staffing and recruitment professional for over  30 years, I have seen many changes in the industry. Over that time, I’ve witnessed a transformation in the way organizations view staffing services. Today, we see more and more companies using staffing services as a strategic tool, rather than just for temporary fill-ins.

At HTSS, Inc., our focus is on helping companies create proactive workforce plans. Our goal is to help our clients use staffing strategically to increase capacity, overcome hiring freezes, access specialized talent, better manage increased workloads, and enhance overall productivity.

For our candidates, we help to uncover truly rewarding job opportunities—jobs that are a match to each candidate’s skills, and jobs that offer key experience and growth potential.

We look forward to strengthening our relationships with our current clients and candidates, as well as forming new and exciting partnerships in the future.
