The Importance of Maintaining Open Lines of Communication with Your Employees

Regardless of size of your company or the type of industry you’re in, your business won’t succeed if the lines of communication aren’t open. Your employees can’t function as a team if no one is on the same page, so you need to foster a constant dialogue. When everyone is in sync, you’ll be rewarded with a much more confident, engaged and dedicated staff, who produces truly outstanding results.

Schedule One-on-One Meetings

We live in a digital age where so much dialogue takes place through email and instant messaging, but these mediums are impersonal. At minimum, schedule one-on-one meetings with each member of your staff on a monthly basis, to have a real conversation. Many people aren’t comfortable speaking up in a group, so this is an effective way to touch base and reconnect.

Encourage Feedback

Let your team know you value their thoughts and opinions by frequently reaching out to ask for feedback. Take each person seriously, because if you behave in a patronizing manner or make them feel judged, they’ll never reach out again. Show them you’re listening by using their responses to make real improvements.

Create an Open Door Policy

Help your employees feel comfortable coming to you with questions, comments and concerns by always making time for them. If staffers know you care and are always willing to listen, they’ll speak up when something isn’t quite right. Looking the other way and avoiding issues only leads to trouble.

Be Honest — Even When It Isn’t Easy

The last thing you ever want to do is disappoint your team, so it’s never fun to share bad news with them. However, if something less-than-fabulous is happening with your company, they have a right to know. You need to be open and honest with them immediately, before they hear the information elsewhere and rumors begin to circulate. They may not like the information, but your honesty will earn their respect and trust.

CEO Letter

As a staffing and recruitment professional for over  30 years, I have seen many changes in the industry. Over that time, I’ve witnessed a transformation in the way organizations view staffing services. Today, we see more and more companies using staffing services as a strategic tool, rather than just for temporary fill-ins.

At HTSS, Inc., our focus is on helping companies create proactive workforce plans. Our goal is to help our clients use staffing strategically to increase capacity, overcome hiring freezes, access specialized talent, better manage increased workloads, and enhance overall productivity.

For our candidates, we help to uncover truly rewarding job opportunities—jobs that are a match to each candidate’s skills, and jobs that offer key experience and growth potential.

We look forward to strengthening our relationships with our current clients and candidates, as well as forming new and exciting partnerships in the future.

Sincerely,

Pat Howells
